Detailed Program

We depart at 11:00 am from our office in El Chaltén (Av. San Martín 55, corner with Trevisan — check-in at 10:45 am), traveling 37 km along scenic gravel road RP 41 following the De las Vueltas River. Enjoy panoramic valley vistas and informative highlights along the scenic drive.

Upon arriving at Punta Sur Pier, we board the boat at 1:00 pm and sail for approximately 30 minutes, admiring views of Huemul and Crestón Glaciers before disembarking at the Great Vespignani Glacier Reserve in the middle section of the lake.

Once ashore, the tour coordinator shares safety instructions and all necessary guidance for the activity. You will have 2 hours to choose and hike along any or all of the THREE well-marked trails offered for this excursion, depending on your physical condition and preferences.

After a warm beverage and sweet snack inside the reserve dome, we board the vessel back to Punta Sur Pier, arriving at 3:50 pm. At 4:00 pm, our ground transfer departs back towards El Chaltén, arriving at approximately 5:30 pm where our service concludes.

Note: On the "Without Transfer" modality, the meeting point and check-in takes place directly at Punta Sur Pier (Lago del Desierto).
Great Vespignani Glacier Trails

The Green Trail As an easy option or complement to other trails, this is a completely flat, 800-meter interpretive nature walk along the lakeshore and woods that features its own viewpoint of the Great Glacier.

The Yellow Trail With an elevation gain of just 50 meters over 1 km, this gentle 30-minute hike brings you to an elevated panoramic viewpoint overlooking the glacier.

The Red Trail With a 200-meter elevation gain over a 2 km round trip, this 1-hour moderate hike leads directly to the foot of the glacier, providing breathtaking elevated views of Mount Fitz Roy's north face.
